Have you always dreamed of including your dog in your wedding festivities, but don’t know where to start? Use this checklist to help make the day as wonderful for your pup of honour as it will be for you!
6+ Months Before
Develop your vision for your dog’s role in your wedding
- Don’t forget to order any garments, floral collars, props, etc. well in advance!
Create a “Dog 101” document that includes their preferences, routines, medical and dietary needs, quirks, etc.
Talk to your wedding venue/planner about your vision, their experiences, and their constraints
Hire Tails Down the Aisle or another “plus one” for your pup, who will focus solely on your dog’s needs during your big day. You want a certified handler who offers services including:
Planning
Developing a plan and schedule that meets both your and your dog’s needs
Coordinating with your other vendors to ensure the day goes smoothly
Companionship
Establishing a relaxing, secure space at your venue for your dog to relax when they’re not in the spotlight
Giving your dog plenty of treats, support, and enrichment to fill their cup and keep them feeling their best
Additional services
After-hours care, so you can celebrate worry-free all day long

1-3 Months Before
Plan your shot list with your photographer
Practice leash walking (Need a refresher? We offer online sessions!)
Begin familiarizing your dog with any garments, fancy collars, etc. that you want them to wear
2-4 Weeks Before
Visit the venue with your dog
Have adequate “meet and greet” time with your dog’s plus one, especially if your pup takes extra time to warm up to new people
Update your “Dog 101” document to reflect any recent changes
Day Of
Make memories to last a lifetime!
